Description
Pottery Class on Friday Morning
This course is for both beginners and advanced students. I teach in two groups so that everyone can learn at their own level.
Beginners learn how to center the clay properly, how to throw a cylinder (the basis of all shapes), how to shape the clay, and how, after a few lessons, to increasingly take control of what emerges from their hands. By the end of the first series of lessons, you’ll be able to throw small bowls, cups, and vases.
With my many years of experience as a production potter and artist, I have specialized in recent years in teaching advanced potters through my masterclasses. During these weekly classes, I now offer you the opportunity to take your throwing techniques to the next level on an individual basis. I focus on your specific needs, but each class also covers topics such as production throwing, plates, large-scale throwing, design, and more complex shapes.
For every 8 classes, you may fire up to 4 kilograms of work (including bisque firing and glaze firing). You may use the tools, clay, and glaze ingredients that are available. Please bring your own apron and towel.
